160PS Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione Launching in India in November

If you thought the Fiat 500 was a metal series of car, things are going to get even weirder. The Italians are going to make it large for Indians and more powerful. As per a report published on Autocar India, Abarth, the performance division owned by Fiat will be making its way to the Indian subcontinent next month.

The first will be Abarth 595 Competizione, powered by a 1368 cc four pot turbocharged petrol producing 160 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque in normal mode and 230 Nm of torque in Sports mode! In comparison to the T-Jet petrol mill powered modern day version, the original edition of the car, which came way back in the early 60s had a two pot mill producing a little over 30PS of power!

Interestingly, even the present generation of Fiat 500 produces 70 PS power, well, the Abarth does not do much but just doubles up the kick 😉 . The version making its way to India will most probably get a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The car sports a suspension setup by Koni and 17 inch alloy wheels. This 1,035 kg of a car is protected by thick anti roll bars and gets Brembo brakes. It also gets Sabelt sports seats and an optional two tone paint scheme (in the UK at least). The pedals inside are made up of shiny aluminium alloys and it also gets a flat bottomed steering wheel.

At 3,657 mm in length, 1,627 mm in width and 1,485 mm in height, it is not exactly a huge car and in a front wheel drive setup it manages to hit the ton in 7.4 seconds! The Abarth 500 Competizione costs 18,905 British Pound Sterlings (Rs 18.56 lakhs) but in India, thanks to sky high taxes, this hot hatch can be expected to reach a 25-30 lakh price tag!
