192 PS Volkswagen Polo GTI Spotted in India Sans Camouflage

Volkswagen appears to be finding niche segments in India to penetrate deeper. And as they have cleared long back, their sales will largely be concentrated on Polo and Vento and their derivatives! We already have the Polo TSI but Volkswagen is taking the game one step ahead!

Spy pics of the 1.8 liter Polo GTI have surfaced for the second time in India, on TeamBHP, which signify that the company may be planning its introduction here. If you are unaware, this 1.8 liter TSI petrol engine in the European version produces, wait a minute… 192 PS of maximum power at 4,200 rpm and a mammoth 320 Nm of peak torque at 1,450 rpm.

Transmission options include a six speed manual gearbox and a familiar 7 speed DSG. The car is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 second flat!

While the whole idea of a hot hatches is new to India, people seem to be slowly catching up. If the thrill of the recently launched Abarth 595 Competizione is anything to go by, then the even more powerful Polo GTI can make things extremely rosy for all the enthusiasts in the country.

We expect the car to carry a stiff sticker price and there is a good chance that it will be brought in as a CBU. In the United Kingdom, the Polo GTI range starts at 17,910 pounds and goes up to 20,775 pounds which equates to a price range between Rs 17.71 lakhs and Rs 20.55 lakhs.
