2014 Ford Fiesta facelift spied again; Launch this month

The Fiesta facelift that was officially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 is apparently ready for a March 2014 launch; last week of March, to be precise, according to Zigwheels.com.

Meanwhile, Ford continues to test the car in Chennai according to these latest spyshots from a MotorBeam.com’s reader. The 2014 Fiesta had been seen and photographed undergoing road tests a couple of weeks ago as well. The upcoming Fiesta comes with the new ‘Kinetic Design’ theme Ford has decided to adopt for its upcoming cars, which will definitely remind you of Aston Martins.

Just recently I was doing a story about the launch of 2014 version of Tata’s crossover Aria. Incidentally, Aria together with the new ‘Movus’ MPV based on Sumo Grande are scheduled to be launched this month as well. So, now we have the 2014 version Fiesta, 2014 version Aria, and the Movus to look forward to in the coming weeks. This is obviously apart from the Linea facelift that launches today!

The Fiesta facelift does away with the insipid exteriors of its predecessor and is also expected to sport some fetching body colors. The ‘Copper Pulse’ worn by the Expo showcased Fiesta was catchy indeed.

Americans, in general, aren’t known for being unexpressive, but there really hasn’t been a confirmation or denial from Ford as regards the engine everybody is frothing about – the 1.0 EcoBoost. This particular powerplant is expected in the new Fiesta and if Ford really wants to wipe clean the old slate and rewrite a Fiesta that indeed is feisty, they better bring in this gem of an engine. The subcompact, otherwise, will come equipped with the petrol and diesel mills trundling inside the outgoing model. A dual-clutch automatic transmission is also anticipated in the updated model.

Come last week of this month, we will know. The official site has also been updated with new Fiesta’s details but it just talks about the 1.5L diesel. Ford swept the very tarmac off from under the competition with its EcoSport. Can they do it again with Fiesta that unfortunately had a bit of a dubious image with the car buyers of this country? A big gearshift is prescribed. A double-clutch autobox married to a certain 1.0-liter EcoBoost might just pull it off for Fiesta this time around. And did we say they are planning to offer it at 7 Lakh-ish range!
