A VW Polo, apparently the 2014 facelift was seen and photographed once more. The publication, Cartoq.com, doesn’t specify the location but going by the more generic possibility, it could be in or around Chakan where VW has a manufacturing facility.
The Polo facelift first broke cover some time earlier this year, followed by a few more sightings of the car. The absence of camouflage on this recently sighted Polo testifies to the fact that there isn’t much of a difference between the 2014 model of the car and the outgoing one. So, what do we get in the Polo model year 2014?
Not much, as it would seem from the outside.
The car retains its mature looks despite the competition going ga-ga with their pencils and drawing boards. So, the 2014 Polo facelift bumpers, both fore and aft, get a mild redesign. You will find chrome lining running across the front bumper. The rear bumper carries the redesigned tail-lamps and the headlamps have also been given a minor refreshment. The side profile, however, remains identical to the outgoing Polo.
2014 Polo Facelift Engines & Launch
With regards to the powerplants, there were murmurs that Polo facelift will get the under-development 1.5L Diesel engine, however, recent reports predict that it will be omitted for the time being. This means that the new Polo facelift will continue with the same 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol and diesel engines along with its more powerful sibling – 1.2L TSI. In the wake of Polo facelift getting the new 1.5L diesel sometime later, we are unsure, if it will get the 1.6L diesel which does duty on the current GT TDI.
Volkswagen is expected to launch the new 2014 Polo facelift in India sometime around May-June this year.
Meanwhile, 2014 Cross Polo Unveiled
Another steed is given a bit of the scissor and comb treatment at the Volkswagen stable. The international version of 2014 Cross Polo gets a mild refresh however, there is no update if Volkswagen will bring it to India sometime soon. The car, with its new look, is expected to bow in at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show which starts in a few days from now.
The Euro-spec Cross Polo gets revised bumpers and headlamps, revised steering wheel, new seat fabric designs, a redesigned gear knob and handbrake lever.
In India, Volkswagen offers Cross Polo with the cosmetic add-ons but the same 1.2L 3 cylinder TDI diesel engine which produces 75PS and 180Nm.
