2015 EcoSport Facelift Spotted Testing in India

Not many days back Ford unveiled the new 2015 EcoSport facelift at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show. The company announced that the compact SUV will be launched in Europe in June and for the first time it has been spotted testing on the India soil.

The major change on the new Ecosport facelift is a cleaner rear without an exposed spare wheel and a test mule running around in Coimbatore, was snapped by a Team-BHP reader navin.raju. No, it is not running with the spare wheel removed since in the new facelift, the number plate housing has also moved up, on to the tailgate.

2015 EcoSport also comes with retuned suspension, revised rear twist beam, ESC and power steering. It gets a 10mm reduction in ride height (190mm now), and there have been a few changes to the design and quality both on the outside and inside.

EcoSport facelift also gets a 5bhp bump in power for the diesel engine which is now Euro 6.1 compliant. Ford also claims that the new EcoSport will provide better torque for both TDCi diesel and EcoBoost petrol motors. All the changes we have listed here were announced for the Euro specific model and we are unsure how many of them will percolate to the Indian EcoSport facelift, if Ford indeed has plans to launch it here.

This test mule in pics is reportedly running with a revised rear bumper and UK-specific alloy wheels. Considering that Ford has a packed year of 2015, we are not sure if they do have plans to launch it here within the remaining 8 odd months. But, at the very onset, to us, the dropping of the exposed spare wheel doesn’t sound like a very good idea for our market.
