We share with you a few more spyshots of the upcoming SX4 replacing sedan which Maruti Suzuki is preparing for a shot into our market.
Codenamed as ‘YL1’, this sedan is now quite a regular in and around Delhi roads. It will be a replacement car for the almost-dead SX4 which, despite a few repeated refreshment attempts, is not moving out of showrooms. SX4 is the victim of the intense competition this C high segment is currently witnessing.
These pics are in continuation with the earlier shots we shared a few days back. In these new spyshots, the car continues to look masculine and bigger for a car of this segment. From a few angles, it also appears to look a lot like older Skoda Octavia which we had in our markets. It runs on trendy alloys and tyres which appear to be 17 inchers.
What we know is that the new car will be heavily based on Suzuki’s Authentics Concept and hence, will be a looker. So are we in for the first sharp looking masculine C-segment Maruti? Appears to be the case here.
YL1 will be produced out of Maruti’s Manesar plant and according to current plans, Maruti has intentions to launch it sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2014. It is also known that YL1 will also get a few features from a segment higher cars. It will also carry underpinnings with Ertiga and Swift and will be exported to a few international markets.
In terms of engines, YL1 is expected to share Ertiga’s 1.4L K-Series petrol engine and unfortunately, the 1.3L DDIS is what currently appears to be most probable candidate for the diesel engine. However, we understand that Maruti is also developing its own set of diesel engines and it also includes a 1.6L diesel motor. Will Maruti take the risk of experimenting it on one of the most important cars for them? We feel not!
An Auto Expo unveiling is what we expect but that is only if Maruti intends to reveal its details to the general public. We are keeping our fingers crossed!
