Already Here?? The 2015 Jaguar XF Caught Testing in India

A covered-up Jaguar 4-door, claimed to be the 2015 version of the mid-size luxury saloon – the XF – was seen and photographed recently by a subscriber of Gaadi.com. The test vehicle was spotted near Jaguar Land Rover facility at Talawade, near Pune city.

The XF forerunner the S-Type, marred with complaisant and conventional design, was easy feed for the Merc-E and the 5-Series Beemer. Sales ebbed and Jag was forced to redesign their offering for the segment.

The S-Type was replaced with an elegant yet aggressive XF in 2008. It was the same year Tata Motors took over the parent Jaguar Land Rover.

The XF fused sports car styling with luxury of a premium executive saloon. The design and engineering of the car has already won over a 100 international awards. The XF had what its predecessor lacked – slick, nimble drive with a graceful yet assertive road presence, and then it tops it all up with a singularly novel interior, that according to reports. The design clicked and Jaguar kept it but with a little power revision in 2009. The XF with a substantial redo was introduced in 2011.

The XF now on sale in the country is available in three models – the XF Luxury, the XF Premium Luxury, and the sportiest XFR – with a 5.0-liter supercharged petrol V8.

The current breed of XFs is sometimes blamed for being a bit too consumptive for a respectable saloon and for providing a bit limited rear leg and headroom when compared to Audi A6 and BMW 5-Series.

The spy shot shows the upcoming version of XF, probably the 2015 model, which was unveiled at the ongoing Geneva International Motor Show only a few days ago. The lighter new model XF does the 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. The car will also host the stop/start system designed to save fuel as well as Jaguar’s eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Times are changing, so is the Jag. The new XF will try mixing the low running costs of efficient new diesel engines and at the same time keep the sportier, upgraded exteriors and customizable interiors with optional styling packs.

Launch early 2015, possibly!
