Auto Expo: Bajaj U-Car Concept Showcased; Looks Interesting; Pics & Details

Moving forward on the lines of their RE60, Bajaj surprised everyone by showcasing another 4-wheeler at the Auto Expo. This time it can be attributed to a ‘car’ and the name itself calls itself as ‘U Car’. In form, the U-Car is totally path-breaking and revolutionary.

The Bajaj U-Car appears like a car straight out of a Sci-Fi movie. Here are the main pointers and features of U CAR.

  • U CAR is powered by a liquid cooled
  • four-valve
  • triple-spark
  • fuel injected engine
  • mated to an automatic gearbox
  • U-Car also has an air conditioner (AC)
  • most interesting bit: It has Scissor Doors!
  • The U-Car will tip the scales at a very low weight of 300 kilograms

It is built on a completely new platform designed in-house by Bajaj designers. Materials used for the construction of the car include plastic and sheet metal.

Like the Bajaj RE60, the U-Car too has very low emission statistics of about 60 grammes of Carbon Dioxide per kilometer. As India’s masses move from the rural areas to the already cramped urban areas, one entrepreneur aims at providing these people proper connectivity solutions. Like the RE60, the U-Car is aimed at decongesting urban areas. However, it is designed for a private user unlike the limited commercial usage of the RE60.

The U-Car currently has a Concept status, and it might see production depending on the feedback that it receives from the public. Don’t you think it is a cool concept?

  1. Looks great. However, a powerful twin cylinder engine under the hood would be great to lure passionate customers towards the car. The 216 cc engine being used on the RE60 is a mis-fit on the U-Car. Bajaj should market this product as niche one, rather than focusing on volumes.
