Beat Compact Sedan & 9 New Chevrolet Cars Confirmed for Launch

General Motors yesterday in a press conference announced their commitment to India and their upcoming plans. In terms of products, they confirmed 10 all-new cars for our market in the next five years.

Chevrolet has been underperforming in India for the last few years and that has a lot to do with their lackluster portfolio. Nothing apart from Beat (which is also old) and Cruze are interesting. However, with a new found energy Chevrolet has announced that they will want to be back in the reckoning and an average of 2 new cars every year, if adhered to, will definitely bring them back to the headlines.

Chevrolet added that they are going to refresh their entire Indian line-up in the next three years which means none of their current model will be available after 2018!

The first two models are the Trailblazer SUV and Spin MPV, both of which will be locally produced (more details). These will be followed by a new family of cars based on Beat and will include a notchback and a hatchback to begin with. Yes, this confirms the old speculation that claimed GM is working on a Beat based compact sedan. In all probability it will be a sub four meter car and will fight it out with Dzire, Amaze and others.

Indian Beat family may borrow cues from this new-gen Beat unveiled internationally

The new Beat is expected to be a heavily re-worked version of the present generation car sold in India and may get some bits from the next-gen version revealed internationally! Apart from this, the new Cruze is also expected to make way among other cars. We also hope there is some place for the Adra compact SUV which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014.
