Celerio Diesel Launch Expected Next Month; AMT Not in Consideration

Maruti Suzuki’s latest baby Celerio is a little more than a year old now. The diesel version has been in news for a long time now and it appears that the company has sorted all issues and have brought down its NVH to acceptable levels and the launch, according to Autocar India is just a month or two away.

Celerio diesel will be one of the most important cars for Maruti since it carries Maruti Suzuki’s indigenous diesel engine and the company would be hoping that it passes through its initial phase nigglefree! Celerio petrol was the car that popularized AMT in India but the clutchless manual transmission is not in consideration for the diesel version at this moment.

The 800cc two cylinder diesel engine will get an intercooler (with turbocharger) and is expected to churn out around 45 to 47 PS of maximum power, and its fuel efficiency according to our sources is expected to be between 27-30kmpl, which will make it the country’s most fuel efficient car.

Y9T, the company’s first light commercial vehicle (LCV), which will be housing the same 800cc motor will not get an intercooler and its power tune will be lesser.

Apart from this, Maruti is also expected to add a top of the line AMT petrol variant to the lineup, however, according to the report, the new ZXi AMT would not be getting a driver side airbag or ABS, which are present in the top end manual trim.
