Chevrolet has been busy teasing details about a new updated Cruze at their Facebook page for the last few days. We noticed that, however, we could not understand what is ‘new’ in the projected updated model.
To clear this confusion, let us share all the details from the official communication Chevrolet has shared with us. The company has indeed launched a new updated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze which comes with the following mild changes:
- Integrated side blinkers on ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors)
- Higher Fuel Efficiency for the Automatic Variant
The integrated side blinkers come as standard on all variants of the car.
Chevy informs that the new 2014 Cruze gets an all-new Gen2 6-Speed Automatic Gearbox which now returns an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 14.81kmpl. We are not sure about the older FE as the company never specified it either on its site or the press release.
The 6-speed manual transmission variant doesn’t seem to have been tinkered and returns the same 17.3 kilometers to every liter.
Apart from this, there doesn’t appear to be any significant changes to the 2014 Cruze. It continues to be powered by the 2.0L immensely powerful VCDi diesel engine which churns out segment-best 166PS of brute power and 380Nm of shattering torque.
Barely a few months back, in October 2013, Chevy Cruze got a mild refresh as well which added 2 curtain airbags to the top LTZ variant. It also got a few cosmetic changes like new alloy wheels, slightly refreshed front fascia and new fog lamps and enclosures. All of them have been carried over to the new 2014 Cruze.
2014 Chevrolet Cruze Prices:
2014 Chevrolet Cruze continues with almost similar prices save for the Automatic variant, which has received a 10,000-15,000 price hike. Here are the latest Ex-showroom Delhi prices:
- 2014 Cruze LT MT: Rs 13,70,416
- 2014 Cruze LTZ MT: Rs 15,19,029
- 2014 Cruze LTZ AT: Rs 16,19,826
With this minor niptuck, Chevrolet has tried to induce a bit of fresh air to the Cruze which has been battling with falling sales with the oncoming of increased competition like Elantra, Octavia etc. But, we love the car for the adrenalin rush and fantastic performance it provides.
