Datsun Go+ Pre-Bookings Open at 11,000; First Few to Get ‘Welcome Pack’

Datsun will kickstart pre-bookings of their upcoming Go+, which will be India’s first compact MPV (cum wagon), from tomorrow. Being a sub 4 meter car with the flexibility of additional 2 seats at the back, Go+ will be a versatile option and may eat into a lot of hatchbacks as well.

You can also utilize the third row of seats as extended trunk space for all your outings. Bookings will open from January 3, 2015 and will span across till 14 January 2015 which means a launch thereafter is on the cards. Some reports predict a 15 January launch date.

Prospective buyers can book the Go+ by paying a nominal amount of Rs 11,000 which Nissan promises, will be fully refundable in case you change your mind and wish to cancel your booking. The first few customers will also be given a free ‘welcome pack’. However, neither has Datsun clarified ‘how many’ nor have they shared details of the ‘welcome pack’.

The Go+, based on the hatchback Go, is already on sale in Indonesia since May 2014, where it was launched with a price tag of 85 million Indonesian Rupiah (on-road, Jakarta) which now translates to Rs 4.29 lakhs. Here in India, we urge Datsun to price the Go+ at starting prices of Rs 3.49 Lakhs ex-showroom to create the first initial interest in the product. You can read our analysis here.

The Go+ uses the same engine as the Go hatchback yet the car seemed fairly responsive even with just 68 PS of maximum power and 104 Nm of peak torque in our first drive which we undertook recently.

Can Datsun turn the tides now with the Go+ and get the cash registers clicking?
