Speculation: Indian Duster 4WD to be Different; Facelift Not on Cards This Year

The fourth largest market of the Duster has still been deprived of a four-wheel drive version which is indeed something surprising. We believe there is a market for the Duster 4WD which Renault already sells in the UK, under the Dacia brand.

Only a few days back, Renault’s MD has confirmed the launch of Duster 4WD within this year. Now, a report on Zigwheels.com says that the launch may happen in October 2014. Well, as expected these guys say that the 4WD will only be made available on the top of the line 110PS diesel engine coupled with a six speed manual transmission.

Duster 4WD gets 3 driving modes- one the regular 2WD, two, the automatic mode which divides torque on all 4 tyres as required and three, the Lock mode which engages all the 4 wheels and supplies torque in equal proportions.

There are a couple of important pointers which this report speculates on. First, they say Renault will launch the Duster 4×4 with more cosmetic oomph to differentiate it from the regular version on sale. In comparison, the UK Duster just gets a 4WD sticker at the rear.

So, there is a possibility of this all wheel drive Duster getting more body cladding (which for some strange reason is associated with being more rough and tough in India), newer and improved interiors, and a few more stickers. Apart from that, this report also quashes any possibility of Renault launching the Duster facelift anytime this year.
