Renault MD Confirms Duster 4X4 Launch Later this Year; Duster Adventure Launched in 85PS Trim

India is Duster’s 4th largest market in the world among the 100+ countries it is sold in, only behind Russia, France and Brazil. Renault manufactures it at their Chennai plant along with the same SUV under the budget Dacia brand and partner Nissan.

But interestingly, the Dacia branded Duster which is exported to various markets comes with a 4 Wheel Drive option which is also manufactured at the Chennai plant.

Ever since its launch two years back, a lot of enthusiasts have been waiting for a 4×4 version of our Indian Duster and there have been a lot of speculations and rumors that have filled the cyberspace. However, possibly for the first time, Renault India’s MD, Sumeet Sawhney has been quoted (by IBNLive) accepting Duster’s 4 Wheel Drive, which he said, is scheduled for launch later this year.

Renault may launch the 4WD only on the 110PS variant in the top of the line trim which means, the SUV may be priced somewhere around 15 Lakhs on the road, making it a pricey preposition.

Duster has been beating EcoSport in India almost consistently (because of whatever reasons!) and if we throw in the Terrano to the scene, we have the largest selling platform beating the Scorpio as well. Talking specifically about Duster, we also have a facelift which is expected to be launched sometime this year and hence, we believe, the 4WD may come along with it.

Duster 85PS Adventure Launched

Apart from this, Renault has launched the Duster Adventure in the 85PS version as well. Back in February they showcased it at the Auto Expo and launched it soon thereafter, but it was limited only to the 110PS variant (details here).

The difference is that the Duster 85 Adventure is available in the RXE trim and hence there are a lot of things missing. In comparision with the regular RXE variant, Duster Adventure 85 gets

  • Smoky headlamps
  • Adventure Decal on Tailgate & D-Pillar
  • Front Armour with lamps
  • Wheel arch cladding
  • Side body moulding
  • Black masking on B-Pillar
  • Body coloured ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors)
  • Neon green seat fabric
  • Floor mat with Duster tag
  • Chrome gear knob finish
  • Center fascia with glossy finish in metallic grey
  • Floor Console in charcoal grey finish
  • Front power windows with illuminated switches
  • 12V accessory socket in front

Price Comparison with Regular Duster RXE

Duster 85 RXE Adventure is priced at Rs 9.16 Lakhs whereas the regular RXE costs Rs 8.61 Lakhs, both ex-showroom in Delhi. So, for an amount over 50,000 you get the additional features listed above.
