Duster Rival Creta Launch on 21st July; First Automatic in the Segment

So, Duster is getting squared up with not one but two direct rivals – Maruti S-Cross and Hyundai Creta, which are scheduled to be launched very soon, and if reports are believed, just next month!

A new article at Economic Times claims that Hyundai has advanced Creta’s Indian launch to take advantage of the festive demand. They say that Hyundai has finalized 21st of July as Creta’s official launch date and production will begin this month sometime around 20th June! This goes along with our earlier report where we informed you that Hyundai has scheduled a media drive of Creta towards the end of this month (June).

Rakesh Srivastava, Sr VP, Sales and Marketing Hyundai, confirmed the advancement and said they have done this with Grand i10 and they will replicate it with Creta. This earlier push in the market will give Hyundai the demand of Onam in South India and Ganesh Chaturthi in Western India.

It is also confirmed that Creta will come with an automatic gearbox – a first in the segment and Hyundai expects over 10 percent of total 4000-5000 (their monthly target) to come from the Automatic Creta.

Hyundai’s compact SUV, which was earlier known as ix25, will be powered by Verna’s 1.6 liter petrol and diesel engines and the company will, in all probability, launch the smaller 1.4 liter diesel as well to keep a low starting price tag. We expect the diesel Creta to start at prices of around 8 Lakhs and may spread across till 13 Lakhs for the top variants.
