S-Cross was officially unveiled and announced for our market at the 2014 Auto Expo. Since then it has been awaited and frequent latest developments have confirmed that we are nearing its official launch. It is known that Maruti will showcase the production version tomorrow at the IIFA Awards in Malaysia.
And now a new report at Overdrive talks about its official Indian launch date which is claimed to be sometime during the first week of next month (July). The biggest USP of S-Cross is expected to be the new 1.6 Liter Multijet diesel engine (sourced from Fiat) which will mark its (engine’s) debut here, interestingly on a non-Fiat car!
On the European model, it produces 120PS of peak power and an impressive 320 Nm of max torque and is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. There is a possibility of the company offering the smaller 1.3L Multijet as well for the lesser variants in order to achieve a competitive price tag.

Maruti Suzuki may also offer Suzuki’s All-Grip four wheel drive on higher variants and we expect prices to start at around 8-9 lakhs which may go on till 13-14 Lakhs for the top trims.
