Ever since Ford unveiled the EcoSport in 2012, it has been in news and was awaited eagerly. Now, after Ford has launched it at very impressive price points, huge queues can be seen outside the company’s showrooms.
Just after we got to know that Ford has recalled the diesel EcoSport for rectification of a minor issue, Financial Express shares that EcoSport has crossed a massive 17,000 bookings within a span of merely 2 weeks of launch, all variants included. Needless to say, that the maximum bookings have been for the diesel variant and considering the limited allotment to respective Ford’s dealerships, majority of them have stopped taking bookings.
Ecosport is already a success car for Ford and it could well be the comeback model, the American giant was looking for in the Indian market.
Ford EcoSport was launched on June 26 at a starting price of Rs 5.59 lakh for the 1.5L petrol variant and Rs 6.69 lakh for the 1.5L TDCI diesel (More Details). With such an aggressive pricing, stylish looks and loads of promise for performance, Ford has been successful in luring Indian SUV fans, which most of us are. Not only does the EcoSport tease compact SUV buyers but also prospects from the premium hatchback segment as well as entry level sedans.
Ford, as of now, has been selling close to 4000-5000 units monthly and with EcoSport, they might as well breach the 10,000 monthly units milestone in the coming times. With the launch of Ecosport Ford has signaled its rivals like Renault, Maruti and Hyundai that Ford means serious business! Could this be the turning point in the dwindling fortunes for Ford in Indian market?
Well, it really appears so!
