Maruti Ertiga has been one of the hugest hits for the company and its proved now! The MUV or rather LUV (Life Utility Vehicle) as Maruti calls it has registered as many as 32,000 bookings for the first month of its existence in the market.
This would be Maruti’s first product over Dzire which has been such a big hit. Else almost all the products from Maruti in the over-8 lakh price bracket have been live duds or very generic sellers. And as a result of the huge response, Ertiga’s diesel variants have gone on to as much as 6 months of waiting periods. Add the Swift’s and Dzire’s backlog the company has to clear.
Maruti can currently produce 6000 units of Ertiga every month; however, Maruti feels it will be able to manage the increasing demand. In wake of the high demand, Maruti has also hinted about an increase in the price of Ertiga by as early as July.
“Yes, we are certainly looking at increasing the price and we will be reviewing it in a few months” Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer (Sales & Marketing) Maruti said.
It would be really intresting to see how other companies would respond to this. We already have 7 seater Nissan’s Evalia about to make it to the market, Mahindra mini-Xylo and Chevrolet Enjoy being the others to make an entry in the segment.
