Fiat’s Upcoming Entry Level Hatch X1H Rendered

Fiat’s upcoming entry level hatchback has been rendered by the folks at Autos Segredos. Codenamed as the X1H, the car will primarily target the South American market and is expected to be launched in the first half of 2016. Production is expected to commence as early as January 2016.

The rendering showcases a high engine hood which gives a bigger SUV-ish impression while the rear tailgate has been flattened (only with a slight bump) garnished by that massive ‘FIAT’ logo. The boot is expected to be accessed by a glass top and seems to be rather high, which means that one will have to lift the luggage over to store it in the car.

The front grille reminds us of the recently launched Renault Kwid. Has the Kwid started a new revolution of entry level hatchbacks shaped like crossover? We are not sure about that yet but what is certain is that it has shown entry level cars need not be boring always; they can also look excitingly fresh!

The report further adds that the car is expected to be powered by a 1.0 litre engine producing 73 bhp of maximum power at 6,250 rpm and 93.16 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. Fiat X1H is also expected to get a 1.0 litre three pot 6 valve mill in the near future! A 12 valve turbocharged version is also expected to be brought in. Expect the new engine to be more fuel efficient thanks to the inclusion of start-stop system.

If the production version ends up looking like this, Fiat should consider something on the similar lines for India as well, however, at the moment, we do not know of any connection of X1H with our market and the sub-Punto car Fiat’s officials talked about with us, will be different!
