Ford’s 1.0L EcoBoost Now Produces 140PS on New Fiesta Red & Black Editions

Ford has upped the ante in the world of small turbocharged 1.0L petrol engines. The fantastic 1.0L EcoBoost motor, which we have tasted on the EcoSport, now produces 139.9PS of maximum power and 180Nm of peak torque!!!

The engine has been introduced in the recently launched Fiesta special editions in Europe, called as the Red Edition and Black Edition. The car now sprints from 0-100 in 9 seconds flat, topping at a whooping 201kmph. Transmission duties are fulfilled by a modified 5 speed manual gearbox, which Ford has specifically prepared for these cars.

The engineers at Ford have not forgotten the main aim of the EcoBoost engine, and efficiency figures and CO2 emissions are still very commendable. The car consumes just 4.5L of fuel per 100km, with just 104g of CO2 per kilometre. This translates to a phenomenal fuel efficiency of 22.22 kmpl!

In comparison, its tamer version on the Indian EcoSport produces 125PS of power output and 170Nm of torque and returns a lesser fuel efficiency of 18.9kmpl.

Hoping for this new 140PS stonker EcoBoost in India is a far fetched deal considering the fact that Ford doesn’t even offer the regular 125PS version on the new Fiesta which has been launched just yesterday.

Sorry Ford, but a Fiesta without a fiery and fiesty petrol might just go on to become a bad game plan. For now, let’s just hope that the honchos at Ford India change their strategy and release the Fiesta with the 1.0L EcoBoost engine, which is already on sale on the EcoSport.
