Flashback: List of All 59 Major Car Launches in 2014

From the times when we had one or two cars in a segment to the current times when sub-segments are being created out of well, nowhere…Indian car market is growing at a rapid pace.

Every other day we hear some or the other new car launch or some of its variant. We thought of giving you a flashback of all the major car launches of the last year, which we covered and even after trimming the list, we have the following roll of around 59 new cars and/or their variants.

January

January witnessed the launch of new Honda City which, with its diesel engine, has taken the market by storm. We also had a few premium car launches from Jaguar, Mercedes as well as Audi.

March

This month saw many facelifts and the introduction of Datsun’s first car in India, Go as well as Hyundai’s compact sedan Xcent.

April

The month of April witnessed only a single launch – that of the 2014 Endeavour, which will see its next-generation model this year.

May

A busy month of May saw the introduction of Isuzu D-Max Pick-ups and the new Corolla in India, along with facelifts and variants of existing cars.

June

June again went dry and it was Ford which launched their new Fiesta here only with a diesel engine.

July

Both Nissan and Honda showcased their new Sunny and Mobilio at the Auto Expo, only to launch them 5 months later. This month also saw the new Macan as well as the updated Polo with the new 1.5L TDI diesel engine.

August

It was a month which saw two important introductions – Tata’s comeback Zest and Audi’s entry A3 sedan. We also witnessed the smashing new i20 as well as the Punto Evo.

September

October

Maruti’s re-invented attempt at the C2 sedan segment, Ciaz, Fiat’s crossover Avventura and the new Swift were the prominent launches of October.

November

Taking advantage of its popularity, Maruti introduced the AMT in their small car Alto K10. Apart from that we had launches like Pajero Sport AT, new variant of A4 and 3rd Gen Mini Cooper.

Not many manufacturers launch products in the last month of the year and only Jaguar and Audi made some noises with their launches.
