Ford EcoBeast: Now That’s Interesting!

Ford’s EcoBoost engines have now become a familiar name for turbocharged petrol engines by the American manufacturer with high output figures. It now seems that the company is moving forward to introduce a new line of engine(s) which will be called as the EcoBeast.

Now if you think that’s a weird name for an engine, allow us to tell you this that a lot of Ford F-150 pick-up truck owners in the US with the 3.5 L V6 EcoBoost nickname their pick-ups as EcoBeast.

Ford EcoBeast Trademark

As per a report in AutoEvolution, Ford has filed for a Trademark for the name EcoBeast under the category of ‘Automobiles and automobile engines’ category at the US patent office on December 22, 2014. The report further speculates that an engine with the name EcoBeast may turn up in the 2016 F-150 SVT Raptor.

The company has recently unveiled a 2.7 L V6 EcoBoost engine in the F-150 which not only increases the fuel economy but also produces 329 PS of maximum power and 580 Nm of peak torque. To give you an idea how good that figure is, the range topping 5.0 L V8 produces 390.2 PS of power and 508 Nm of torque.

Now if the EcoBoost 2.7L can produce more torque than a 5.0 L V8, just imagine what this EcoBeast, if it is a new engine, will produce! Ford may have the potential to turn the table against diesel in the SUV territory. What if Ford brings out something like a 2.5 or 3.0 L EcoBeast with a crazy amount of power and torque and plonks it in, say, an SUV.

Yes, it is too early to be talking about this but we love the name – ECOBEAST!
