You might have read a few online reports about the opening of bookings of the much awaited Ford EcoSport in India. These reports suggest that EcoSport bookings have started and a customer needs to pay Rs 50,000 to get his EcoSport frozen under his name from the first lot.
However, when we tried calling both the major local authorized dealers here in Pune, they were not aware of this and are NOT taking any bookings for EcoSport. They clearly say that there has been no official communication from Ford with respect to the opening of bookings.
Moreover, we have also not received any related word from the company or a press release that the bookings are officially underway. There might be a few cases though, where dealers have started unofficial bookings and restless folks might have gone ahead with the deal.
During the media drive in Goa, Ford officials, including Mr Joginder Singh, head of Ford India, iterated that they will begin with the bookings from the month of June and start delivering EcoSports to the respective customers from July (More Details). So, we suggest you to wait a while before you put the money on the table.
