Ford’s global product, the new EcoSport is going to various developing nations like India. Its already available in markets like Brazil, China, Argentina etc.
In the latest, Ford has introduced a diesel engine in the Argentinian market. The engine is the same 1.5L turbocharged TDCi motor that India will also get. Till now, EcoSport was available in a 1.6L Sigma and 2.0L Duratec motors, both of which were gasoline powered. This engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Common to its general nomenclature, this engine will be called as Duratorq and is imported from Europe. It produces 90hp of peak power and 204Nm of maximum torque. It is available in two trims – S & SE. The range starts at 141,120 Argenina Peso which is equivalent to approx 15 Lakhs in INR. The second variant costs approximately 15.5 Lakhs in INR. Interestingly, EcoSport is placed over Fiesta in Argentina which will be exactly the vice versa in India.
And as you guessed it right, this is the same engine as our Indian Fiesta has and the same mill will do duty on our Indian EcoSport as well. Along with this diesel engine, India will also get the 1.5L petrol motor (only in Automatic Transmission) and the eagerly awaited 1.0L Ecoboost petrol variant (Read Official Details).
Launch of EcoSport is expected to happen somewhere towards the end of June or early July in India.
