Ford has achieved a milestone of selling a total of two lakh Made in India EcoSports till now. They reached this feat within two years of its official introduction. This figure is a cumulative figure of domestic sales and exports.
Individually, the company informs that out of these 200,000 units, they have sold about 1.12 Lakhs here in India and exported the rest (about 88,000 units) out of the country.
Ford claims EcoSport, which is the largest selling compact SUV here, received 60,000 bookings within the first 30 days of its launch in India and has had a roller coster ride so far. From India, Ford exports the Chennai-made EcoSport to South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and a few European countries.
Interestingly, Ford is also preparing its facelift which was snapped testing recently and is devoid of the exposed spare wheel. It gets a tweaked motor along with a few other minor changes. Few reports predict that, India will get the EcoSport facelift with the spare wheel hinged to the rear door, sometime towards the early part of next year.
