Ford’s EcoBoost engine is doing wonders for the company. It is exceeding the expected projected sales and Ford would be delivering 1.6 million powertrains from the earlier estimated 1.5 million units annually by 2013.
Ford’s EcoBoost series of engine are becoming popular because they can produce more power and at the same time remain extremely fuel efficient. While in India, we are yet to see the EcoBoost engine making its way, but this engine is immensely popular in the international market. There are various sizes of engines which would come with this EcoBoost technology from Ford.
In India, the first traces would be seen in the Ford EcoSport compact SUV which would get the 1L EcoBoost petrol engine and is expected to be launched during early next year. Later on it is expected that the 2014 Ford Figo will also come loaded with one. In fact Ford plans to revamp their line-up completely with these technically sound engines.
A few days back, the 1L EcoBoost engine also won the award for 2012 International Engine of the year.
Meanwhile, Ford has also started promoting the EcoSport in India.
