Nissan Opens Sales & Marketing Headquarter in Mumbai; Guillaume Sicard is New Deputy President

Nissan is busy making strategies for India after they started showing special interest last year with the world premiere of their budget brand ‘Datsun’ from India.

They snatched the distribution rights from Hover a few months back and have taken things in their own hands. In the latest update from the company, Nissan informs us that they have opened sales and marketing headquarter in Mumbai.

The new center was inaugurated by Takashi Hata, Senior Vice President Nissan Motor Company, and is located in the Equinox Business Park in Kurla West. It is spread over an area of 17,000 square feet and spacewise, it is just behind Nissan’s corporate office in Chennai.

Nissan currently has a work force of 200 employees and 50 of them will be shifted to the new center in Mumbai. Nissan will later on take this count to 150 by the end of this year. All these employees will take care of Nissan and Datsun’s sales, marketing and dealer management activities. They also have established a regional office in Delhi to expand local presence here in India.

Apart from this Nissan has also announced a key senior management appointment in India. Renault Turkey’s Chief Operating Officer, Guillaume Sicard has been called here and appointed Deputy President of Nissan India. Mr. Sicard will assume duty from 1st July 2014 and will report to Kenichiro Yomura, the current President of Nissan India.

So, there is a lot of effort, time and money being put up by the Renault-Nissan alliance in India to catapult their sales and presence in India. In terms of immediate product launches, they have the Datsun Go+ MPV and Sunny facelift coming very soon in the market.
