Honda Officially Confirms July Launch for Mobilio; Coming to Your Nearest Mall

After targeting the Verna with its new City, Honda’s next attack is on Maruti’s Ertiga with their Mobilio MPV. From, a launch very soon, Honda has confirmed its launch in July with a clear message ‘Coming this July’!

The update is shared on Honda’s official site along with some new pics and details of the upcoming car. The uploaded video is the old one which we had talked about earlier. It shares the features of the MPV to create a buzz.

Going by the recent record, Mobilio is probably going to be the most fuel efficient Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in the country, thanks to its 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine, which has been rated at fuel economy figures of 25.8kmpl on the Amaze and a whooping 26kmpl on the new City.

The video talks about the ‘attractive’ styling of the car, which is actually based completely on the family of Brio and Amaze. Attractive it may not be but then which other MPV is! Honda also showcases the various storage spaces, huge, expandable boot space, foldable seats and sliding mid row seats.

Honda is planning to market the car and create a buzz about it by placing display models in high footfall shopping malls of the country. The schedule in Delhi-NCR has started on the 14th of June 2014, and will go on till the 13th of July. These shows will go on in 13 other cities and will continue till the end of August.

With its launch date confirmed, the next big thing is the pricing. If Honda can repeat the Amaze-Dzire scenario, Maruti has a lot to fret. Unlike the high volume compact sedan segment, MPVs are not so widely sold and hence there are all the chances of Mobilio actually eating into Ertiga’s space. The 1.5L i-VTEC petrol will also be available. Transmission duties will be fulfilled by a manual as well as an automatic (CVT) gearbox.
