Hyundai Showcases 7-Seater Santa Fe at LA Auto Show; Gets 5-Star NCAP Rating

Quick and first chirpings of Next-gen Santa Fe making it to India have already started sneaking in. We can expect the new Santa Fe somewhere during mid of 2013 in our country.

Meanwhile, as they promised earlier, Hyundai has displayed the final production version of 6 and 7 seater 2013 Santa Fe. If you are confused, let us inform you that the new Santa Fe is already launched in a few international markets and its only a matter of time before we, in India get to see it. However, the one that is present is only available as a 5-seater.

At the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai showcased the 3-row Santa Fe which would now have an elongated wheelbase (3.9 inch longer). Overall dimensions have grown for this bigger model – length by 8.5 inches, width by 0.2 inches, height by 0.4 inches.

What this has translated into is more interior room for even the middle row passengers. The interiors remain the same but there are changes to the grille and side rear and it comes with 18 inch Euroflange alloy wheels. The bigger Santa Fe only gets a single engine option of a huge 3.3L 290hp, 342Nm V6 engine which is mated to a 6-speed Automatic gearbox with optional All-Wheel-Drive. It remains to be seen what premium would these bigger Santa Fes command over the regular one.

Meanwhile, the new Santa Fe has received a full 5 Star rating by Euro NCAP making it a lot advanced and safer than the outgoing model.

With Indians strong penchant towards 7 seaters, would Hyundai consider it for India? We do not really get this feeling in positive specially with this engine size.
