Jaguar Land Rover Complete 5 Years in India; Launches 3-Year Service Plan

Jaguar and Land Rover are celebrating their fifth anniversary in India and to make this a special occasion for their customers as well, they are offering a unique three year service plan (no details shared). JLR is Tata Motor’s most successful division, bringing in the bulk of the revenue, sometimes even pulling the group out of the red, which crops up in Tata’s balance sheet thanks to its dismal domestic car sales.

Way back in 2008, when the Tata Group bought Jaguar and Land rover from Ford for 1.3 billion pounds, Land Rovers were out selling Jags by a large margin, the trend continues to this day as well, but Jaguar is slowly stretching its paws and waking up from its deep slumber. Many pundits doubted Tata Group’s move as its domestic sales story was no different, buying an ailing brand signaled more trouble. What followed was some clever managing and effective implementation of strategies. Everyone knows the success story now.

JLR currently sells Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XF, Jaguar XK and Jaguar F-TYPE under the brand Jaguar. The Land Rover range includes Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery 4 and Freelander 2. They have 21 outlets in 19 cities and intend to open two more dealerships before the end of the financial year 2014-15. The company locally assembles the Land Rover Freelander 2, the Jaguar XF and the new Jaguar XJ (which was launched just a few days back) at their plant in Pune.

JLR is not ready to just ruminate on this, and plans to launch a new entry level sedan, the Jaguar XE to increase their product portfolio.
