LEAKED: New Elite i20’s Features & Equipment Revealed: Launch on 11 Aug

It’s the Hyundai’s new i20 that has hogged the limelight on automotive portals for the past 10 days or so. However, until now it was the design and interior that comprised the topics of discussion, and now it’s the specifications and features that have been unearthed by the folks at Gaadi.com.

First things first – there are no changes or additions in the engine and gearbox combos and the same petrol and diesel engines will continue to power the new Elite i20 with the same 5-speed and 6-speed manuals, respectively. The only automatic in the range, the 1.4 petrol, has been axed according to the report.

Elite i20 Dimensions:

And now comes the good part – as we had correctly guessed from the pics, the new car is indeed wider. In fact, it is 24 mm wider and 10 mm shorter but surprisingly the wheelbase has been extended by 45 mm! So, with wheels pushed more into the corners now, the handling should be a lot more, err, swift and we can expect betterment to the interior space as well. The boot space has, thankfully, remained the same. The bigger surprise for us is that the new i20 is 10mm shorter than the current version on sale.

New Elite i20 Features:

We could already see that the changes on the inside were comprehensive and we are not at all disappointed with the leaked features. The new Elite i20 would get engine start/stop button, rear air-con vents, front center armrest with storage, steering adaptive parking assist, service reminder, follow-me-home lamps, 2 DIN audio system, and dual roof lights for front passengers.

Then there also those ‘Smart Pedals’ that cut off acceleration if both the throttle and brake pedals are pressed in error. Of course, there would be even more features that we might not be aware of at this point but suffice it to say that Hyundai will again set the benchmark in the features/equipment-to-price ratio.

New Elite i20 Color Options:

The Elite i20 will come in seven shades, all of them are listed below:

  1. Polar White
  2. Mystic Blue
  3. Sleek Silver
  4. Stardust
  5. Passion Red
  6. Midas Gold
  7. Pristine Blue
