Mahindra Launches Xylo – D2 Maxx; A 9-Seater Version at Rs 7.12 Lakhs

Mahindra has launched a 9-seat variant of their moderate selling awkward looking Xylo MPV christened as Xylo D2 Maxx. The D2 Maxx gets side facing third row seats thereby allowing 9 passengers onboard with claimed best in class head room and leg room.

Targeting at Urban and Rural fleet operators, the variant will be available in both BS3 and BS4 versions. The BS3 variant of the Xylo D2 MAXX is priced at 7.12lakhs INR, ex-showroom Mumbai.

Noting about their new release and its capabilities Mr. Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra said

“Today, we are delighted to offer our customers the 9 seats option with side-facing rear seats – a feature preferred by the tour and travel segment. Given that the Xylo has best-in-class space, the side facing seats will provide a great deal of flexibility for carrying people or luggage.”

The new D2 Maxx will be powered by the proven workhorse – 2.5-litre mDI CRDe engine. The oil burner with impressive power figures of 93bhp and 220Nm torque comes with a healthy ARAI rating of 14.95kmpl.

To distinguish from regular variant D2-Maxx comes with few changes on the exteriors. The features that distinguish the D2 Maxx from the regular variants are-new grille, new front bumper and wheel arches. The body colored bumpers and door handles have been shown the door as cost cutting measure.

The D2-Maxx has come at a time when the commercial MPV segment is gushing with launches and updates. The competition for D2 Maxx is quite loaded for the festive season with Toyota launching a mild update to its Innova, Maruti Suzuki bringing the CNG variant of Ertiga followed by Ashok Leyland –Nissan JV launching Stile and Nissan rolling out a refresh for its premium MPV- Evalia.
