Mahindra Quanto Bags 3200+ Bookings, Set to Roll on Italian Roads, to Compete with Duster

After XUV5OO, Mahindra is keen to promote their recently launched Compact-UV Quanto worldwide and make good customer base for the same. M&M is planing to export Quanto to the European market and Italy will be the first to get it.

Mr. Parvin Shah, Chief Executive (Automotive), M&M, said: “In the next four to five months we are planning to start exports of the vehicle to Europe and Italy is likely to be the first destination. The XUV500 was launched in Rome on September 24 and will sell as Mahindra XUV in the Italian market. This would be followed by the Quanto”.

According to him, the Quanto has received a good response from the market as it has already bagged 3,200 bookings since its launch. Currently M&M plans to make 2,500 units of Quanto every month though the facility has a peak capacity of producing 7,000 units of Quanto and Xylo combined. For now, the initial export volume remains unknown.

Quanto will mainly be competing with the Renault Duster which is sold under the Dacia badge in the European market. Mahindra & Mahindra prefers their products to be named under the Mahindra badge. As Mr. Shah says: “We are keen to promote the Mahindra brand in the overseas markets and all our offerings named as Mahindra products. Only, the Scorpio sells under the name of Mahindra Goa in Europe as there is an already existing Ford model by that name”.

Add to that, Mahindra would also export Quanto to South Africa.
