SPIED: Scorpio Facelift Snapped Flaunting its New LED Tail Lamps

Mahindra Scorpio was released way back in 2002 and had a major update back in 2006. Despite its old age, it has been a consistent performer for Mahindra and one of the largest selling SUVs in its segment.

To continue the dominance, Mahindra is preparing for a facelift of Scorpio, which appears to be a comprehensive makeover of the SUV. In an update, one of our readers Aditya Kamble from Nashik, Maharashtra has shared these spyshots of the Scorpio facelift which reveals the rear of the car.

These images feature the Scorpio flashing its trendy LED taillamps, which clears that the SUV is getting production ready by the day! The new LED tail lamps are the first thing which catches everyone’s attention here. The inverted D shaped lights look futuristic and the entire rear lamp unit seems to be more compact, contrary to the christmas-tree set-up of the current car on sale!

Scorpio facelift will get a new face, projectors, possibility of 17 inch wheels, new tail lamps and a wee bit of other cosmetic exterior changes. But it is on the inside, we are more interested in. In new spyshots released a few days back, Scorpio’s facelift mule was seen sporting a new dashboard which had inspirations from XUV500.

It gets a lot of redesigned elements inside and the initial impression appears to be ‘better’ than the outgoing model. But the quality should be bettered as well, not only the looks!

Scorpio facelift will continue with the same 2179cc turbocharged, intercooled mhawk, CRDI engine which currently churns out 121.7PS of maximum power and 290Nm of peak torque in the range of 1800-2800rpm. There is also another lesser 2.5L engine variant on offer. Though these engines will remain the same, it is expected that Scorpio tweaks them for better performance as well as fuel efficiency.

There were reports that Mahindra may launch the Scorpio facelift by July, but it appears that it may get delayed by a couple of months or so.
