Mahindra XUV 5OO Launched in Australia, Starts $29,900, Twin turbo in Pipeline

Earlier we discussed that XUV5OO is about to get launched in Australia. Now Mahindra has officially announced the price tags for their Premium SUV, the XUV5OO in Australia. The Front-Wheel Drive, Luxurious, 7-Seater, W8 variant is available at a Drive-Away Price of $ 29,900 and the All-Wheel-Drive variant is available for $32,900 only! This is very aggressive pricing from Mahindra that will definitely be tempting the potential buyers.

Mahindra XUV 500

Since Mahindra has already declared that the XUV5OO is not a competitor to China’s Great Wall X200TD, the closest rival of XUV5OO in Australia is the Holden Captiva7 Turbo-Diesel. This SUV, Captiva comes for $ 35,490 for the 2WD variant and $39,490 for the AWD variant. An Automatic Transmission is a standard fitment for the Captiva though. Mahindra is also planning to introduce an Automatic Transmission variant of the XUV5OO within a span of eight months to two years, to make the competition even tougher.

As we also discussed that Mahindra is looking forward for crash test results conducted by ANCAP (Australian New Car Assessment Program), here we have the final outcome. As per the company’s expectations, ANCAP awarded the XUV5OO with 4-Star Safety Ratings! It has got 26 points out of 37 points. The test results were mixed like the vehicle suffering a loss of structural integrity in the passenger compartment and a rupture in the fuel line.

Mahindra also plans to introduce a Twin-Turbo variant of the XUV5OO that will pump out 127 kW of power and 400Nm of torque, though there’s no official confirmation from the company.
