Maruti Celerio Diesel Spotted Again: This Time With Low NVH!

Celerio, with its current petrol engine, has been performing very consistently for Maruti and is clocking pretty decent numbers. Its sales will be further boosted when the company will launch its diesel model sometime in early 2015.

While the car has been much talked about in the circles, we busted the power and fuel efficiency figures of the 800cc diesel mill exclusively a few weeks back!

One of the major problems which has been plaguing the newly built diesel mill is the issue of ‘higher than acceptable’ NVH levels. There have been reports (and a video) of the car sounding like a diesel generator! Last we had heard that the engineers at Maruti are busy working on that.

It seems all the efforts are paying if the report and spy pics at Gaadiwaadi.com are to be believed. These folks have spotted a new Celerio diesel mule doing rounds in Gurgaon, not far from the company’s manufacturing plant. The car was sans camouflage and had four engineers inside it and we can see a lot of wiring and test equipment to log all the test results.

The report claims that the noise levels have been significantly reduced and has seen a massive improvement and it is believed to be sounding like any other diesel engine in the country. This being Maruti’s first indigenously developed diesel engine, the company has to get it right at the first attempt considering the huge expectations everyone has from them.

This 800cc diesel mill is to do duty on the upcoming Light Commercial Vehicle, Y9T and will trickle down to other entry level Maruti cars apart from Celerio.
