Maruti’s attempt to go premium and lure the higher end of the spectrum enters the first phase with the upcoming Ciaz. The mid-size sedan replacing the SX4 may have some average engines but Maruti knows what a generic Indian consumer really seeks: high fuel efficiency and a big features list.
Well, they do have the mileage part covered, and at a rated fuel efficiency figure of over 26kmpl for the diesel, Ciaz beats the new City to become the most fuel efficient car in the country. And here is an extract of its feature list according to Autocar…
Ciaz VXi & VDi Features
There is no LXi/LDi variant on offer on the Ciaz (like the SX4) and so it will enter with the VXi and VDi variants. These ‘V’ variants get projector headlamps, armrests at the rear as well as the front, keyless entry, audio system with USB, aux-in and card reader, cloth upholstery, and electrically-adjustable outside rear view mirrors with integrated indicators.
Ciaz VXi+ & VDI+ Features
(in addition to V variants)
The slightly higher VXi+ and VDi+ gets airbag for the driver, ABS with EBD as an added safety net, climate control, parking sensors, audio system with Bluetooth, height adjustability for the driver’s seat, and steering-mounted controls for added ease.
Ciaz ZXi & ZDi Features
(in addition to V+ variants)
The ZXi and ZDi will pamper you with 15 inch alloy wheels, sunshade at the rear, keyless entry and go, front passenger airbags, reverse camera assist and a mix of cloth and leather upholstery.
Ciaz ZXi+ & ZDi+ Features
(in addition to Z variants)
The range topping ZXi+ and ZDi+ will get Smartplay infotainment system, leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and 16 inch alloys with more spokes!
Makes it an interesting buy..? Maruti has scheduled Ciaz’s launch for the early days of October.
