Maruti to Celebrate New Year with the Ritz Automatic; To Lock Horns With Brio AT

A couple of months back the Maruti Suzuki Ritz has received a fecelift and we shared with you all the details of what has changed in the new avatar. Then in the first half of November, Maruti  revealed Ritz Automatic details on its official website. But there was no info of its launch even with the dealers.

Now Autocar India has confirmed that Maruti will bring the Automatic Ritz on the streets by next month. This sure is quite a New Year Gift for all the customers looking out for an Automatic bigger hatch from Maruti.

The Ritz Automatic will be powered by the same 86 BHP 1.2-Liter K12 Petrol Engine, mated with a 4-Speed Automatic box. In its Auto guise, Ritz AT would return an average of 17.16 kmpl (ARAI rated) which is higher than the competition.

The Ritz Automatic will be the third car (after A-Star and DZire) with an automatic transmission from Maruti’s stable, and all of them are equipped with the 4-Speed Automatic Transmission. The Ritz Automatic will be available in Petrol only option and in VXi ABS Trim.

With the recent launch of Brio Automatic, the competition among the small size automatic hatches has gone up. As a matter of fact, Brio is the only one in the segment having a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Reports say that the Ritz Automatic could be priced around 6.3 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom).

If this goes true, Ritz might not be as good a show as we expect it to be. This is because Brio Automatic is more powerful, extremely fun to drive and comes with a 5-Speed Auto Transmission for a price tag which would be almost cheaper by 60 grands!

However, there is no official confirmation regarding the price. We will await for an official word from Maruti and lets hope it is well priced.
