Maruti to Open Up Rs. 6,000 Crores Plant in Gujarat

After five months of uncertainty, Maruti Suzuki is up to signing a deal with the Gujarat Government  on June 2 . According to this deal, Gujarat Government will provide 500 acres of land at Mehsana, Gujarat where Maruti Suzuki will set up a manufacturing plant with an initial capacity of 2.5 Lakh cars annually. The capacity will be increased as per demands of the domestic and overseas market.

Initially Maruti Suzuki will invest Rs. 6,000 Crores  along with vendors and suppliers. It seems the Gujarat Government is in a pursuit to make Gujarat an auto hub. General Motors, Tata Motors, Asia Motor Works already have manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Ford India’s $1 Billion  plant is under construction at Sanand, Gujarat. A State Industries Official says: “The June 2 agreement will enable the company execute its strategic plans in the state”.
