Audi India continued its aggression in the country with the launch of the new 2015 Q3 facelift, their entry level model of the Q family, for a starting price of Rs 28.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Being one of their largest selling model, the company has high hopes with the new Q3 and the SUV can now be brought from all Audi dealerships across the nation.
The new Audi Q3 bears a sharp single frame grille in the front with 3D styling exuding sophistication. The sportiness is well accentuated by the coupe like profile with a wraparound tailgate. The SUV gets first in class LED head lights with LED daytime running lights. The rear sports tail lights which remind us of the sporty R8! It even gets new robust 17 inch Y shaped alloy wheels to compliment the new theme.
We continue to get the same four pot 2.0 litre TDI engine in two power tunes. The 30 TDI in the entry S Edition produces 141.9 PS of maximum power and this continues to be one of the few luxury SUVs in the Indian market with a manual gearbox. The Premium, Premium Plus and Navigation trims use the same engine with a higher output of 179.5 PS of maximum power and 380 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated with the familiar 7 speed S tronic transmission with steering mounted paddle shifters, capable of throttling the SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.2 second.
The equipment list includes LED interior lighting package, power adjustable front seats and 3D aluminium inlays. The infotainment system is a 6.5 inch MMI screen. The Audi Music Interface has a 20 GB jukebox, two SDHC card slots and Bluetooth support. The boot space is a healthy 460 litre unit which can be further extended to 1,365 litres by folding the rear seats. The Audi Q3 is the only car in the segment to sport a permanent all-wheel drive system which we know by the name Quattro.
The SUV gets three driving modes to suit your style. The Comfort mode optimises the steering and shift pattern for a relaxed drive while in the dynamic mode the steering gets tighter and sharper with aggressive throttle response for a sporty drive. Want the best of both worlds? Audi has just the thing for you in the Auto mode in which the car automatically adjusts the settings for a blend of responsiveness and comfort.
This is Audi’s 5th launch this year and their powerful assault in the luxury car market shall continue with more models to come in the near future.
