Renault India has lent a small cosmetic update to their most successful product in India, the compact SUV Duster which now has a starting price of Rs 8.30 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It boasts of a few engineering changes and some additions to the features list to keep up with the competition.
New 2015 Duster Engines:
The Renault Duster continues to house the same powertrain, the 1.5 L K9K diesel and 1.6 L K4M petrol and is available in three output options:
- 1.5 Liter dCi K9K producing 110 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 245 Nm (down from 248Nm) of torque at 1,750 rpm. The fuel efficiency of this variant has been slightly improved to 19.64 kmpl (from 19.01 kmpl) thanks to the introduction of eco mode.
- 1.5 Liter dCi K9K is also available as before in a lower power tune producing 85 PS of power at 3,750 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm (lower than the original 2,200 rpm). Surprisingly, rated fuel efficiency of this variant of Duster has dropped down to 19.87 kmpl from 20.45 kmpl.
- 1.6 Liter K4M petrol engine produces 104 PS of power at 5,750 rpm and 148 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm. The fuel efficiency remains unchanged at 13.24 kmpl.
New 2015 Duster Changes & Features
The new 2015 Duster comes with a few changes like arm rest for the front seat, one touch indicators, new beige upholstery, steering mounted phone and audio controls, cruise control, eco mode etc.
The company claims that the 2015 Duster goes a step up on the evolution ladder in terms of electrical and electronics architecture. It also gets a new CMO10 engine compartment which helps in improving the driving experience with better acceleration and low end torque for improved drivability. The segment first feature of Eco mode is also an interesting addition which, Renault says, helps in delivering up to 10 per cent more fuel economy by balancing the power and torque delivery.
