Based on the confirmation from Anurag Mehrotra we already had, Ford has teased their third important upcoming product of the year – that of the 2016 EcoSport. The teaser, as you can see below, features almost the same face with LED DRL strips, similar headlamps and the grille.
This is a positive confirmation from the company and expect the new EcoSport to get launched very soon, possibly this month itself. Apart from any other visual changes, the exposed spare wheel will continue to do duty unlike the European facelift. Also expect introduction of a few new features.
But the biggest change will be the increment in power for the 1.5 liter TDCI diesel engine. It will churn out 100 PS of peak power output and 205 Nm of peak torque as compared to the current tune of 91 PS and 204 Nm. This confirms that there will be a uniform tuning between the new Figo Aspire, Figo and the EcoSport. Fuel Efficiency is also expected to increase from the current ARAI certified 22.67 kmpl.

In the wake of the upcoming and existing competition, we do not expect any major increase in prices and in fact, there may be a minor slash in what Ford retails the EcoSport at currently, considering that it was offered at discounts for the first time few weeks back (link to report). For reference, the petrol variant starts at Rs 6.75 Lakhs and Diesel at Rs 7.89 Lakhs ex-showroom in Delhi.
