The upcoming new Alto K10 facelift has been snapped by the chaps at Gaadiwaadi.com and those are the clearest spy images to have surfaced yet. So, it’s not just a facelift but a major makeover for the car or has Maruti just put the K10’s engine on the Alto 800’s frame?
The current Alto K10 is a pleasing design – one, that would not win any beauty pageants but would also not offend anyone.
Its smaller sibling, the Alto 800, comes across as that proverbial child who only a mother could love. However, as was the inevitable, the Alto K10 will get the new design language of the company and frankly speaking, it looks much better than the current housefly-like Alto 800, with that celerio-like face.
Apart from that, if I am not hallucinating, it seems the ground clearance has been increased and those headlamps and taillamps look good too. The interiors will be refreshed as well with new seat upholstery options and possibly a dual-tone dashboard. The biggest change though would be the addition of Celerio’s auto transmission, making the newest Alto the cheapest automatic car one can buy in India.
The current engine will continue to power the car however, it will get Celerio’s tune which means we can expect a little loss of ‘zest’ but some real high fuel efficiency figures. It’s a three-cylinder 998 cc petrol motor that churns out 68PS at 6,200 rpm and 90 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm.
Going by the pics that have been surfacing, it appears that the production of the new Alto K10 is in full swing at Maruti’s plant and the launch date of 21st October claimed by the source may just be about it.
