Is Mahindra’s Mysterious Compact SUV Mule Next-Gen Quanto?

Mahindra has been at the receiving end of the downturn. With falling sales, the company has plans to attack the mid-end spectrum with all-new products starting from next year.

Barely a few days back, we have published exclusive spyshots of one of their upcoming products which has been snapped a few times earlier as well. Various publications have been speculating about it being anything from Scorpio to U301 (which is nothing but next-gen Bolero).

If you read our articles, we have always been apprehensive of it being the Next-Gen Bolero, forget the Scorpio theory at all! We at MotorBash, just do not have enough acumen to believe that Mahindra will kill one of the prime-most USPs of Bolero, space! This appears to be a lot smaller and shorter than the current Bolero.

We tried to analyze the possibilities, compared pics of the mules with various Mahindra products and came the the conclusion that the ‘mysterious’ test mule is nothing but the Next-Gen Quanto!

The current Quanto has just been a dismal failure owing to the very fact that it did not look good! With a fresh new face, better engineering, lesser height and refreshed styling Quanto may just help Mahindra attain some significant volumes. There had been earlier reports of Mahindra working on the new Quanto as well.

The tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a flatter edgy body, roof-rails, rear wiper all help us make our belief firm that this is just the new Quanto on tests.

The mules sport fatter (and possibly bigger) tyres, and it appears to be running along with the older-gen Scorpio’s tail lamps. The front face also has a slight little resemblance to the Quanto. Along with the 1.5L 100hp diesel engine, Mahindra may also plonk the new 1.2L petrol engine which is being developed for the S101. You can check clearer pics here

So there you have it, mystery resolved! Do you believe we are correct?
