Safari Storme Facelift May Get an Automatic; Launch After Diwali

The original Safari was a great success initially, the next-gen Safari Storme can not be attributed with the same fate though! What is already known is that Tata is working on an update to the Storme through various spy pics and reports, one of which is displayed on this page.

As per our sources, Tata Motors would be launching the Safari Storme facelift after Diwali and within this year. This means we are looking at the last two months of November and December 2014. The facelifted Storme has been spied in camouflage a few times and it gets a few cosmetic as well as changes to the interiors.

But what is more interesting is the sneaking bit our source tells us about the Storme F-tronic also in the offing which means the SUV will come with an automatic transmission. However, what is not known at this point is whether it will be an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) or the conventional automatic gearbox!

Safari Storme not just faces the Scorpio but also finds some serious competition from compact SUVs like the Duster and Terrano. The new Scorpio as well as the Duster, do not get an automatic transmission, but if Tata can offer it from the very onset, it would get them some buyers for sure.

Among other changes, Storme facelift is expected to be launched with a power increment, ie the same 2.2L VariCOR diesel engine from the Tata Aria which produces higher 150PS of power.
