Next-Gen Fiat Linea Spied for the First Time in Europe

Fiat Linea is a great car! Not only is it the best looking in its segment, but it also gets a wonderful petrol mill – the turbocharged T-jet! However, sales have been far from satisfactory but that has majorly to do with Fiat’s dwindling interests in India and frequent changes to the top leadership.

Internationally Linea is going to get its next-generation model and a comprehensively camouflaged unit has been spotted for the first time somewhere in Europe and the spy pics are shared at CarScoops.com.

These pictures reveal that the new version might be slightly longer and wider than the present generation model we have in India. The company may use the Fiat Chrysler Group’s Small US wide architecture which has been used on the Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500L and 500X. This would also allow the option of an all-wheel drive variant (which is unlikely to ever make it to India). The new car might be a bit more upmarket than the present one with a lot more goodies added to the features list.

The pictures here give us a hint that Fiat may move the Linea a segment higher and introduce a smaller C-segment sedan in place in international markets.

CarScoops feel that this next-gen Linea may be powered by Fiat’s new-generation 1.4 liter turbocharged MultiAir and 2.0 liter Multijet engines, both of which produce 140 hp of power. The company is expected to introduce this car sometime in 2017.

Back in India, Fiat, even after promising the 1.6 liter Multijet (for the current Linea), has not been able to plonk one till now and so the question of the new age engines mentioned above is not even a rare possibility for our market. Just for your information, Linea sold a mere 177 units in February 2015 in India.
