Next-Gen Ford Endeavour (Everest) Spotted in Thailand

Ford Endeavour has recently got a minor niptuck job in India and is scheduled to get its next-generation model sometime in 2016.The SUV which competes with the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner and SsangYong Rexton was a decent seller but has been slowly loosing out against the competition. Indians have loved the solid build quality of the Ford Endeavour but more importantly the truck-like looks have that rough-edge!

Next-Gen Endeavour, which is also sold in many countries as ‘Ford Everest’, was recently spotted at a Thai airport by Newvigoclubthailand.com, while three units were being shipped, probably for testing. It must be noted that Endeavours in India are not manufactured here and are imported from Thailand via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. In all probability, even the next-gen model will continue to be a CKD.

Though its not clear but engine options are expected to be the same (we would obviously love higher power). Current Endeavour gets…

  • 2.5L TDCi diesel producing 143PS of maximum power and 330Nm of peak torque.
  • 3.0L TDCi diesel producing 156PS of maximum power and 380Nm of peak torque.

The transmission duties though will be performed by new gearboxes which will six speed units, for both manual and automatic. The rear archaic leaf suspension is also reportedly going to be axed and will be replaced by relatively more modern coil spring unit.

The exterior design is quite evidently drawn in continuation of the Everest Concept shown during the Bangkok Motor Show (pictured above). The new front radiator protection grille, new alloy wheels and curved edges on the body ensures that the new Endeavour will be curvier and not boxy as the current model. Yes Ford is getting ready to fight the new Fortuner, which is also slated to come out around the same time.
