Next-Gen Endeavour Indian Launch in 2015

Ford’s much loved SUV, the Endeavour is all set to get replaced by the next-generation model and according to a report on Autocar, it will be launched in India by the end of 2015.

The Endeavour which used to be an interesting prospect many years back, has started to look a lot dated and truck-like amidst the ever-increasing and more modern competition. This has resulted in a huge drop in sales of the SUV which now sells in paltry numbers.

According to the report, New Endeavour will be assembled in India with a lot of local content to ensure they remain price-competitive in the segment. They may also plan to export the SUV to other markets as well.

The new Endeavour is based on the Everest concept which was showcased first at the Bangkok Motor show. It will have a trapezoidal grille on the lines of the EcoSport. Ford seems to be in a mood to design all of its cars in a same family style.

Huge outside rear view mirrors, accentuated by extra-large wheel arches, which bulge out to give a muscular look. The pseudo air vents on the side panel give a classy look. The mud skids make it look like a proper SUV. The rear tail lamp and tail gate give the impression of a larger and misshapen Duster. While the interiors seem to be rather plain and not up to the mark for a 20-25 lakh car, we hope Ford does some major enhancement surgery to make it look upmarket when they unveil the production car sometime later.

The new Ford Endy would continue to use a ladder frame chassis, and will be available with 2.2L and 3.0L engines in both manual and automatic transmissions. It will be available in two-wheel drive as well as a four-wheel drive. Well, it better have good features because taking on the existing champs Fortuner, Santa Fe and Pajero Sport will not be easy!
