Nissan Terrano Brochure Updated; Launch in 2-3 Weeks!

The new Renault- Nissan badge engineered Compact SUV Nissan Terrano unveiled in August this year will arrive in time for the festive season. Terrano will position itself as a stylish premium SUV over EcoSport and even overpriced Duster.

For the premium price of Terrano over Duster, Terrano comes with different and typical Nissan styling and slightly better interiors.

Nissan has updated its Indian website with details and brochure of Terrano and what you see here are screengrabs of the same PDF file. Let’s have a dekko:

Nissan Terrano will be available in three engine options:

PETROL:

  • 1.6L, 104Ps, 145Nm of torque, 5- Speed M/T

DIESEL:

  • 1.5L, 85PS, 200Nm of Torque, 5-Speed M/T
  • 1.5L, 110PS, 248Nm of Torque, 6- Speed M/T

The 1.5L diesel with 110ps power gets a six speed transmission, other options come with regular 5-speed transmission very similar to Duster. There is no Automatic Transmission nor 4-wheel drive as was earlier speculated!

The Variants come with similar Nissan conventions. There is a base, mid and top variant. The 1.5L petrol engine features in the mid variant only. The base variant gets 1.5L, 85PS Diesel engine and the top variant gets with 1.5L, 110PS Diesel engine only. With base variant lacking a powerful engine and top variant price suspected to reach up to 14-15 lakhs on road, mid variants seem to be a sensible option.

Terrano will be available in six color options-

  • Graphite Black
  • Pearl White
  • Blade Silver
  • Sterling Grey
  • Fire Red
  • Bronze Grey

Nissan Terrano will go against the Ford Ecosport and more appropriately Renault Duster in sales as a premium SUV. Ford Ecosport, despite being small, is better equipped with button start, SYNC, leather seats, side airbags, climate control and much better interiors; and it comes at a much cheaper price.

Currently, at the price of EcoSport Titanium diesel, you only manage to get the base variant of Duster 85 diesel. The price difference between the top-end EcoSport and top-end Terrano is hence expected to be a whooping Rs. 4-4.5 lakhs.

Terrano, like Duster, also suffers from average interior looks and quality. With an expected catastrophic price tag, Terrano will face an extremely uphill task of making it to the buying books of customers.

Terrano-Interiors-SeatsHowever, against all odds, the longer waiting periods, Ecosport’s love it or hate it styling and Ford’s recent messing up of things, few customers may turn to Terrano. It, being a fresher product, also adds to its prospects.

Bookings of Terrano have already started and you can pre-book your Terrano at the Terrano’s official website as well. You need to give a few personal details like name, email address, mobile number and state and we guess, Nissan or one of its dealership will get in touch with you.

Official launch along with its price will happen towards the first week of October and deliveries will start soon thereafter. We are still wishful, if Nissan can silent everyone by surprising us with Terrano’s lower-than-Duster pricing!
