The XUV 500 was a landmark product for Mahindra and Mahindra. It didn’t just keep the cash registers clicking but also signaled the coming of age for Mahindra as a global car manufacturer.
The crossover SUV has the looks, fairly decent build quality and a punchy 2.2L mHawk direct injection diesel engine with a 5th generation Variable Geometry Turbocharger, producing 141.9PS of power and 330Nm of torque.
Another major factor for XUV500’s success has been the attractive sticker price which ranges from Rs 10.80 lakhs to Rs 14.65 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from that their Scorpio has been a massive hit ever since it was launched here.
Xylo and Quanto have not really been market pullers and the sole product Rexton from Ssangyong has been accepted fairly well by the Indian crowd.
